I stumbled upon this book due a recommendation of the author herself on a tiktok. With that in mind, props to her for being resourceful since it worked and now I am here.Marketing aside, I did enjoy the book in a general sense. Characters are well explained in terms of their thoughts, so using the different POV was not a nuisance while reading. It flowed nicely.In terms of world building, I enjoyed the background snippets we obtained throughout the book. I think that when it comes to paranormal books there is so much potential and if this series continues, such as Sophia's and Mace's story, I will definitely come back, even if my cup of tea is reverse harem. I loved the background on species too, I think that was well made and its fits a modern reality (to an extent at least).The only reason why I took a star off is because some of the situations were a little off. I understand being in shock, but I don't understand wanting hanky panky to forget about it. At least not as quickly as some situations were described. But please take that with a grain of salt, that is just my very personal opinion and should not stop someone from reading this book.That being said, I do recommend this book and I well be keeping an eye out for more on this author. I only read a few chapters. After the author implied (in the first chapter) that having a stutter was a punishment hex made to instill fear, I struggled to get back into the story. Aside from the ridiculous insult to anyone with an actual speech impediment, it honestly just lacked creativity. There are so many more amusing things the author could have done. The character could have meowed anytime he tried to speak, or hiccuped.I really tried to ignore it and keep reading because the premise was enticing. Unfortunately after that, all I could see were other instances where creativity was missing. It reads like a very new author who hasn’t found her style.I won’t be finishing this book and I doubt I’ll be checking in on this author in the future.
