Ebook About
From award-winning author Garrett Leigh comes a gorgeous new romance in the True North world! Think: great food, burly men and good times. Beards are optional but encouraged.I’m not the obvious choice to run Burlington’s coolest wine bar—quiet, brooding, clueless about tannin content, and always one wrong turn away from another downward spiral. But no one seems to mind that I'm a wreck. Besides me. I just focus on getting through each shift until the night a beautiful stranger appears, looking as lost and damaged as I feel. When a mutual friend calls in a favor, the sexy newcomer winds up crashing on my couch. I don't know if it's his melodic Cornish accent, or his ocean blue eyes, or the rock-hard body with the mysterious scars, but I get the feeling whatever happened to him runs far deeper than those wounds. Having Jax in my home makes my chest warm. Makes me shiver. Makes me want more. But I've got a pile of baggage and I don't want to be a burden on anyone let alone a man who seems to have enough demons of his own. Our chemistry is off the charts. His arms feel like home. The last thing I want is to screw this up. Is it wrong to hope we can heal each other? Or will one of us die trying?HEARTSCAPE is a heartfelt MM friends-to-lovers romance in the True North world, with a brooding bartender, a rugged outdoorsman, sweet angst and lots of Shipley cider. Triggers: contains mentions of depression, suicidal ideation and PTSD recovery.

Book Heartscape (Vino and Veritas) Review :

I absolutely loved Jax and Tanner’s story! This was a wonderfully emotional story that grabbed me and didn’t let me go until the last page. I was so invested in each of their complex characters and I honestly couldn’t put it down. Tanner and Jax meet when a mutual friend connects them when Jax finds himself in need of a helping hand after losing most of his belongings to a hostel fire. What ensues is friendship they both desperately need, which evolves into some amazing chemistry. The sexy times were very hot, but the emotional connection between the characters was so strong it’s what kept me turning the pages for more. They each had so much emotional baggage from their past, which had shaped who they were when they met. I believe these two healed each other in the best of ways, that only each other could have. It was so great to step back into the World of True North, within the Vino and Veritas series. I loved seeing some familiar names, and of course the Shipley cider! I’m even more invested in this new series now, and I’m eager to see how the rest of the stories unfold!
Heartscape is the second book in the Vino and Veritas series, set in Sarina Bowen’s World of True North, and a great addition to the series.Heartscape is the story of two wounded souls who find themselves and each other in the most unexpected and consuming way. To simply say I loved it sounds like an understatement, but it’s true. I loved it. I loved everything about this book. Tanner and Jax stole a piece of my heart. It’s beyond amazing.Tanner is a grump and the manager of the Vino and Veritas wine bar. We know he’s been through something that has left him hurting emotionally. Jax is also a loner, but his wounds are both emotional and physical. He’s a lot more open about them though, and also self-deprecating.There is a lot of self-reflection and soul searching in this story. It slows the pace a bit, but it doesn’t make it boring. On the contrary. It heightens the anticipation and the longing between Tanner and Jax at the beginning, and it gives their connection so much depth and complexity that it makes it feel authentic.Tanner and Jax are soulmates, and they recognize it the moment they first met. Their attraction and chemistry is undeniable and also extremely strong. But they are both in a place in their lives that doesn’t allow them to be reckless.I loved how Jax opens up to Tanner without expecting him to do the same. They are both suffering, but they have different personalities and coping mechanism. We find out what Tanner has been going through bit by bit, a perfect reflection of how Jax’s presence in his life changed him. (There’s sensitive talk about mental health, specifically depression.)There’s also a bit of action, and Vermont’s wilderness plays a major rol in it. I loved seeing this untamed side of Vermont. The great outdoors. The descriptions of the mountains and the trails really take you to this wonderful, beautiful place that deeply contrasts with the cool and urban Burlington scene.Heartscape, with its gloomy atmosphere, combined with Tanner’s and Jax’s raw emotional turmoil, and the beauty of Vermont’s rough wilderness have been skillfully intertwined to create a beautifully written and deeply emotional story. It gave me all the feels. It is outstanding in every way and definitely five-star material. I highly recommend it.
